Cornville Regional Charter School, the first elementary public charter school in the state of Maine, opened its doors on October 1, 2012 to 60 students in grades K-6. Just a few months before we were an empty building with limited books and equipment but we have quickly become a vibrant active school through the spirit of community, volunteerism, and an amazing staff.
We believe that it is not enough to just excel at academics; emphasis must also include the holistic development of our students. In order to do this, we provide a wide range of learning opportunities with choice and voice embedded as often as possible. We offer Student Interest Groups which are taught by local community members, parents, and staff. These activities promote healthy learning and self-awareness, develop talents and allow the children to explore new interests. All children have the opportunity to choose from a multitude of activities and vary based on our instructors; no fees are charged.
